  • Quality Mixology In SoHo

I’m not usually the busy club going type.  Well, I’m never the busy club going type.  Usually, a line of any sort has me walking in the other direction. Then again, nothing about this past Saturday was my normal style.  We attempted to start at Boom for dinner, Wife’s friends made a reservation and all.  We tried to get there early only to find that they had been closed by the health department.  Thank god they were closed Saturday and not Sunday, just saying.

So after trying to find places the four of us ended up at I Tre Merli (W. Broadway between Houston and Prince). Amazing dinner that you can likely find info on pretty easily so I actually want to focus on after dinner drinks.

One of our friends had an in at a place called Pegu Club (77 W. Houston and W. Broadway).  There was indeed a line so I was getting a bit annoyed.  The doorman told us it would be a few minutes and it was just a few minutes.  We got upstairs and the room was really nice looking.  The dark red room had an Asian vibe to it for sure, but there was also elements that made it feel almost Caribbean and old New York speak easy at the same time.  The drink list was pretty creative and extensive.  I ended up going with the Little Italy, their take on the Manhattan.  As always, Wife stuck with her sauvignon blanc and my friend had a Gin Gin Mule, which included in-house made ginger beer.  I believe his girlfriend had a sauvignon blanc as well.  Both of our cocktails were fantastic.

The bartenders were very focused on what they were doing.  When we stepped to the bar they barely noticed us.  We were then seated at a table and had quite a long wait before your drinks came.  We were getting a little antsy, but like I said the drinks were great.  Despite the wait times and sometimes disinterested service, the drinks were great, I liked the room and vibe.  We will be back.
